Letter Ll

Home workstation: the child will be making "L"emonade! We have been learning about sequencing using words like: First, Next, Then and Last! They have to follow the picture directions and follow our vocab words to figure out how to get their lemonade just right!
Science: We are going to learn about heavier and lighter! In the purple kitchen gloves the kids have to sort the gloves by heaviest to lightest! Then, we will weigh the gloves and record what we discovered! After they are finished... the kids will put together the "L"adybug puzzles by matching capital and lowercase letters!

Math: there is a ladybug matching game to 5 that they will graph the number of dots on the ladybug by using linking cubes. When they are finished... they will use the cute ladybugs and put the correct number of dots that match the number at the bottom of the bug!

Writing and Listening: We are writing a "L"etter! We will be using our sight words "I" and "am!"

Fine Motor: "L"incoln "L"ogs!!!!!

EXTRA: Social Studies We are leaning about the sense of touch! They are gluing objects on the cut out hand that match the words like... smooth, bumpy, soft, hard, and rough!
Fine Motor again: Put the ladybug on the clothesline in sequential order!

Here is a close up of the sense of touch hand!
We are going to have a great week! I hope that by looking at these workstations, you can get an idea of what we are learning and review these concepts at home with your child!

GETTING READY!

Reading Center

Meeting - Calendar: Days of the week, months of the year, counting 1-20, shapes, colors, weather and rhyming.

Math - In math -fingerprint the correct # of coconuts in the chicka Boom tree... #'s 1-5. There are lots of counting activities 1-5 and also books about counting to 5!

Home/Dramatic play - there are metal cookie sheets with letter stickers and #'s that the kids need to match with the magnetic letter! They can also find the letters in their name! After they are finished with all 3 cookie sheets they can use their imagination and explore the center!

Science- The children are given a spoon with holes and I tell them to go diggin' for the golden letters! The wheelbarrow has rice and sparkly letters in it! When the child "digs"out a letter they need to write what letter they pulled out on their paper then put it in their bucket! Great Fine motor actvity!

Listening/Writing- In this center the children are going to 1st listen to the the Book Bisquit goes to School by Alyssa Capicilli. When they are finished... They can do the "read the room" Chicka Boom paper to see how many words they can find!

Fine Motor - the clothesline activity is 1st! They need to place the #'s 1-5 on the clotheline in numerical order! Then, they can manipulate the many puzzles, blocks, and manipulatives in the workstation!

Well... It is almost time for my little darlins to come into my classroom! I am sooooo EXCITED!! We are going to have such a fun year. I wanted to show you some pics of my workstations for the 1st week of school! We are doing Chicka Chick Boom Boom workstations! Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. is a wonderful book full of letters, rhyming and FUN!
