TREES

Science- We will be learning about Trees! Each student will create a tree fact book! This week we will focus on labeling the parts of a tree, How do trees grow, and the life cycle of a tree. This is a book that we will add information to over the next few weeks! We will label our class life-size tree!
EL AR- We will be learning how to research! This is our tree research center! In their tree hand print book, the students will write facts about trees that they learn and begin to look at animals that live in a tree! They students are preparing this research to write an expository draft.
During the last 6 weeks of school we will review all the sight words we have learned throughout the year. The students will paint their "Easter basket" then if they can read the words from the year they can place the egg in their basket!
Social Studies- We will figuring out how to solve a classroom problem by using the problem solving process.
Math- Length and Area- In each tree are animals that live in a tree. They will take the animal and first sort them from smallest to largest then they will find the animal that is the same size as the provided string. We will be using words like: Shorter than, same as etc

Using the eggs in the carton...work out the additon and subtraction problems that have been provided! What pattern did your chicken lay with her eggs?
Spider ABC order and matching capital and lowercase
Fill your grocery sack with the correct # of healthy fruits!
IPOD touches and begin Spring Journals
Choose an animal....see what # is inside then match her with the correct # of babies
Open the egg then build the sight word that is inside!




This is a review week in CSCOPE and the last week of the 5th 6 weeks!

Spiders

Math- 3 Dimensional shapes

We will sort real life objects into the category that they belong. Spider phonics game- One child will draw a letter and say the sound...if the other children have that letter in their bag they get to add the leg to the spider. The first child with 8 legs... WINS!!

Math- Also in math, we will be weaving an Easter basket! We will be reviewing words like over,under,through and between.
Science- The students will dig in the "grass" to find the insect or spider. They will count the legs then sort them accordingly! They will then water color the insect paper to reveal the magic sight word!
Sight word game- The students will put on their insect blindfold...they will swat the fly-swatter and if they can read the word it lands on they get to keep the word...BUT if they land on a spider they lose a turn! The student with the most sight words wins!!

ELAR- Write a story about a personal memory. Focus on the Beginning, Middle and End of the story!
Social studies- How did Stephen F. Austin contribute to our state community. We will also compare Stephen F. Austin and George Washington.

Letter Qq

This week we will be reviewing mammals and birds. We will also be learning about fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects. We will have a meal worm habitat for the students to observe. In the activity above the students will classify the stuffed animals into the correct category.

Social Studies- We will be learning about the 7 roles of the President of the United States. We also learn about the contributions George Washington made as our 1st President.
Math-First the students will create a pattern with the animals. Then they will label their pattern AB, ABB, ABC, ABBA. Next, they will find the correct animal sound and match it with the animal. Last, they will find the repeating pattern.
Math- Create an Easter animal pattern then label it.

Letter Ww

Science- Animal Coverings! This week focusing on mammals and birds! Thank you Mrs. Turner for providing a variety of skins for the kids to explore!


Social Studies- We are studying jobs that are Unique to the Dublin community. We will spend some time learning about Daries and how they work! In this pic...there is a Dairy cow sight word game where the kids will toss dairy products on the sight words they know! The goal is for each Dairy Cow Sight word to have a Dairy product on it!

A BIG thank you to DAIRYMAX for providing every kinder student with coloring books, crayons, pencils, pencil sharpeners, cow erasers, stickers, posters and much more! ALSO... A BIG Thank You to Tri- County Ag for supplying every kinder student with an ice cream treat!

MATH- we are reviewing addition and subtraction! In this game we will add and subtract dairy cow spots!

Letter X

Since we are learning a little more about Texas this week in SS... I came up with a roping game to learn our NEW sight words for this 6 weeks! They will try to rope a steer and drag it in.... after they pinned it... the child and their partner will try to figure out the word!


Math- Last week of Studying #'s 15-20...in this game the kids will toss the soap on the "germ" # they know... if they get it right they get to put that many green boogies (green beads) on the germ (gross? yes... but its kinder!!) They go until they can recognize all the #'s and their germs are full!

Social Studies- How is Dublin different than other communities in Texas? We will be taking a closer look at the different regions of Texas and what makes them special!

Science- Continue our study on How We Live and Grow. We will be focusing on Germs and washing our hands. (Notice the cute "germ" sacks in each workstation.)

ELAR- In each germ sack there are letters (capital and lowercase) and puncuation to create words and sentences. After they have created a sentence they will transfer it onto paper...making sure they start the sentence with a capital letter, have spaces between each words and end the sentence with the correct punctuation mark! Also in Elar this week, we will be continuing our study on different forms of media and finalize our drafts from last week.

Letter J week

Science and Math- These are Stethoscopes! Each child will get one to listen to a partner's heart beat. They will count how many beats it pumps a minute. This will reinforce counting up to 100 and heart health.
Social Studies- What makes Dublin Unique? We will be re-creating our town and where specific places are in our town!


Math and Science- Count out 20 action cards and put them in a pattern for your partner to act out.



EL AR and Science- In this activity they will be finding healthy food in a magazine (form of media) to put on their plate. They will then write about their favorite food and if it is healthy!


Science- Things you need to grow and stay healthy. Also, how your body works. We will be learning about the food groups and in this game they will match the food with the correct food group. If they aren't sure they can look at the examples taped in front of the table.




Math- Counting 1-20... Put the jelly beans in order 1-20. Then put the correct # of real jelly beans on the #.

EL AR- Learning about different forms of media. EX- posters, flyers, magazines, brochures and web.
