Letter X

Since we are learning a little more about Texas this week in SS... I came up with a roping game to learn our NEW sight words for this 6 weeks! They will try to rope a steer and drag it in.... after they pinned it... the child and their partner will try to figure out the word!

Math- Last week of Studying #'s 15-20...in this game the kids will toss the soap on the "germ" # they know... if they get it right they get to put that many green boogies (green beads) on the germ (gross? yes... but its kinder!!) They go until they can recognize all the #'s and their germs are full!

Various spinner, Bingo and Dice games to review #'s 15-20!

Social Studies- How is Dublin different than other communities in Texas? We will be taking a closer look at the different regions of Texas and what makes them special!

Science- Continue our study on How We Live and Grow. We will be focusing on Germs and washing our hands. (Notice the cute "germ" sacks in each workstation.)

ELAR- In each germ sack there are letters (capital and lowercase) and puncuation to create words and sentences. After they have created a sentence they will transfer it onto paper...making sure they start the sentence with a capital letter, have spaces between each words and end the sentence with the correct punctuation mark! Also in Elar this week, we will be continuing our study on different forms of media and finalize our drafts from last week.

Letter J week

Science and Math- These are Stethoscopes! Each child will get one to listen to a partner's heart beat. They will count how many beats it pumps a minute. This will reinforce counting up to 100 and heart health.
Social Studies- What makes Dublin Unique? We will be re-creating our town and where specific places are in our town!

Math and Science- Count out 20 action cards and put them in a pattern for your partner to act out.

EL AR and Science- In this activity they will be finding healthy food in a magazine (form of media) to put on their plate. They will then write about their favorite food and if it is healthy!

Science- Things you need to grow and stay healthy. Also, how your body works. We will be learning about the food groups and in this game they will match the food with the correct food group. If they aren't sure they can look at the examples taped in front of the table.

Math- Counting 1-20... Put the jelly beans in order 1-20. Then put the correct # of real jelly beans on the #.

EL AR- Learning about different forms of media. EX- posters, flyers, magazines, brochures and web.

Food Groups

It's fun to be fit! The student will pick an activity that they like doing from the cut-outs. Then... they will write a personal narrative about the activity.
